My Rustic, Cosy Living Room – Eva’s Apartment
Welcome to the first look into my apartment. This is my happy place that I’m building for myself, and although it’s far from done yet, I just couldn’t wait to photograph a small part of it and show it to you. The reason why I’m so attached to my apartment this year is a deeper story than you would normally thing. You see, I announced back in June that I was moving, as I always do when my lease comes to an end after a year. I am a nomad. I can’t just stay in one apartment. I always crave a new experience. After playing it safe and hopping around apartments near my hometown, I finally decided to do something crazy; move to somewhere new. Somewhere far. I needed a place with new beginnings and new memories to be made. My soul demanded new people to surround me.
Recently Andrew and I broke up, and it was the right decision for us both. I quickly found myself not sad that It was over, but enthralled of the idea of being a new person and finding out who “Eva” really was. I’m two years older then when Andrew and I started dating, and at that time, I lived at home with my family in a small, cluttered space with two dogs. I saw life differently. Innocently. I miss that time so much. Now I’m still the crazy, goofy, inspired, hopeless romantic that is Eva, but I’ve learned so much along the road to becoming more confident and being an “adult” (lol at the word adult).
Anyways. My apartment was something that I really got to start fresh in. A space that I could play with. It was my chance to have a blank canvas, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Like a 900 square foot present to myself, I got to reinvent who was deep inside of me. I wanted a space that I could feel at home in. I wanted to cosy up with myself late at night on a comfy couch. I wanted to invite my best girl friends over and have sophisticated college sleepovers where we talk about the future, while wearing overpriced, ineffective face masks that smell like spinach.
This is just my unfinished living room, but I really just wanted to share with you a little piece of what I am having so much fun creating, because every day that I spend customizing my apartment to who I am right now, I get closer to finding my happiness again.
Love, Eva & Paris, my loving cat that keeps me company in this new chapter of my life.
